Como toda construcci\u00f3n antigua, el edificio que alberga al Museo de Arte Contempor\u00e1neo de la Facultad de Artes, Universidad de Chile, en su sede Quinta Normal, cuenta con espacios ocultos y r\u00e1ramente visitados. Bajo el llamado \u201cAnfiteatro\u201d, en un espacio aparentemente detenido y sin acontecimientos, el suelo y los objetos all\u00ed estacionados se uniformizan detr\u00e1s de una capa de polvo cada vez m\u00e1s densa, \u00fanico fen\u00f3meno que permite notar el paso del tiempo.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dentro del tubo de Kundt, que da cuerpo a Dust<\/em>, se encuentra el testimonio de la acumulaci\u00f3n de las part\u00edculas que dan sentido temporal a estos espacios aparentemente inertes. Con esta acci\u00f3n, se pretende re-movilizar el polvo, pedazos de aislapol, fibras y otros; todos colectados a trav\u00e9s de una aspiradora manual en una acci\u00f3n imposible de querer despejar tal espacio de bodegaje.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ya dentro del tubo, el polvo es movilizado por los sonidos aleatorios que remiten de manera abstracta, sint\u00e9tica y quiz\u00e1s antojadiza a este espacio-catacumba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Like all old buildings, the structure housing the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Faculty of Arts, University of Chile, at its Quinta Normal location, features hidden spaces that are rarely visited. Beneath the so-called \u201cAmphitheater,\u201d in a space that appears still and eventless, the floor and objects stationed there gradually become uniformed behind a layer of increasingly dense dust, the only phenomenon that reveals the passage of time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Within the Kundt tube that gives form to D.U.S.T., lies the testimony of the accumulation of particles that impart a sense of temporality to these seemingly inert spaces. With this action, the aim is to resuspend the dust, pieces of polystyrene foam, fibers, and others; all collected through a handheld vacuum in an attempt that is impossible to clear the space of storage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once inside the tube, the dust is mobilized by random sounds that abstractly, synthetically, and perhaps whimsically reference this space-catacomb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
