Born (1978) and raised in Santiago de Chile, Mónica Bate works as a visual artist, professor and producer in her country. She graduated from the Bachelor in Fine Arts program at the Universidad de Chile. Afterwards she started to teach at different universities such as Universidad de Chile and Universidad Católica. She has specialized in New Media Arts and sound in the context of visual arts. She studied a major in New Media Arts at Universidad de Chile, a Certificate Program in MAX/MSP Jitter at Harvestworks in New York City and the (MPS) Interactive Telecommunications Program – ITP – at the New York University. Since 2011 she’s part of the production team of the Anila Cultural Project at the Contemporary Art Museum in Santiago de Chile.
Her creative work has been shown in Chile and other countries featuring projects such as Acoustic Views, the IS3 series, Strings and The Life of Crystals.

Artista visual y académica. Nació en Santiago de Chile en 1978. Estudió Licenciatura en Artes Visuales en la Universidad de Chile donde posteriormente, y además de otras instituciones, comenzó a desempeñar su labor como docente. Se ha especializado en el área de Nuevos Medios y Sonido en el contexto de las artes visuales estudiando en el postítulo de arte y nuevos medios de la Universidad de Chile; en Harvestworks Media Arts Center en Nueva York; y en el programa de Master ITP en la Universidad de Nueva York. Desde el área de la producción, ha formado parte del proyecto Anilla en el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo en Santiago.
Su trabajo ha sido expuesto en Chile y en el extranjero destacando proyectos como Acoustic Views, la serie IS3, Strings y The Life of Crystals entre otros.
